Elena Liberman & Alexander Popov: Artists’ Statement

We are an artist duo who have united our individual worlds to create a new visual reality. In our work, the warmth of human hands and the magic of classical drawing intertwine with the power of digital tools.

While we began our collaborative art project in 2022, our journey started long before. We both brought decades of experience from diverse fields—fine art, design, animation, and graphics for cinema—deciding to channel this collective expertise into a singular, unified vision.

Our choice of natural silk as our primary medium is not merely a decorative element; it is a profound conceptual decision. Functioning as a "second skin," silk responds to the slightest movement of air and the warmth of the body. It is the ideal medium to convey both the fragility and the incredible elasticity of creative force within the rigid environment of the metropolis.

We experiment with forms and styles while remaining true to our core philosophy: for us, beauty must always be imbued with meaning, and technology must serve as a conduit for timeless values.

Through our work, we share emotions, thoughts, and reflections, maintaining an ongoing dialogue with our audience year after year. Each piece explores fundamental philosophical concepts and universal human values, inviting the viewer into an internal monologue. We do not simply create images—we build visual worlds rich with metaphors and depth.
